As freon is passing through the expansion valve or orifice tube, this is where the freon pressure and temperature drops right before going through the evaporator core. The cold freon then chills the evaporator core as it circulates through. A blow motor pushes air from the cabin, or from outside, through vents in the evaporator core. As air passes through these vents, it drops the temperature of the air before it blows out into the vehicle to cool the cabin.
